KIRSTY KIRBY
The weather said rain was likely, and I almost cancelled my plans to take a walk at Wentworth Castle Gardens because you know, getting caught in a potential downpour isn't all that fun. Thankfully, as I left the motorway, the sun crept out from the clouds and brightened up the skies to be a gorgeous, albeit chilly day.
I'm feeling incredibly lucky this December; on the 5th I started my Christmas Holidays from work! This is crazy early by most people's standards, and wasn't completely planned - I saved my holidays for a potential house move that didn't happen - but now I have this amazing long break I'm making the most of it by taking plenty of little day trips for winter walks and festive fun, starting with a visit to Belton House.
Ahhh that most wonderful time of the year; misty, cold and rainy - and yet I love it, especially when it calls for some time outdoors in beautiful surroundings. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours at Stapleford Park recently on just such a day. Crisp air, a misty morning and as Peter Kay would say 'That fine rain that soaks you through', but within seconds of driving on to the estate I was utterly in my element.
